The Welfare of Young People in Cricket Policy provides the sport with the tools to ensure that the whole game takes up the challenge of continuously improving the participation conditions for children and young people.
Safe Hands greatly enhances the value of existing activities and practices throughout ECB's extensive club and schools network and ensures that the many thousands of coaches and volunteers integral to the game are supported.
The Policy is backed up by a comprehensive training and
education programme, a structured implementation plan and a sensitive
process to respond to concerns.
Prescot & Odyssey formally adopted the Safe
Hands policy at the club AGM in November 2005
Club Welfare Officers - What the ECB says and What P&O has
achieved
A Club must nominate
a Club Welfare Officer who will advise and ensure that child welfare and
protection is being adhered to in the Club. Bill Ewen is in post,
Geraldine Brimelow is in post
The Club Welfare Officer must attend a ‘Good Practice and Child
Protection’ course accredited by Sportscoach UK (3 hours). Bill
Ewen has attended this
The Club Welfare Officer must be CRB checked. Bill is CRB checked
The Club Welfare Officer must attend the NSPCC ‘Time to Listen’
course (3 hours) advising on the role, requirements and responsibilities
of child protection in Clubs. Priority for attendance will be given to
Clubmark and Focus Clubs. Bill has been on this course.
